Jeff & Kaylan Lennick
Let’s Get to Know Each Other
Our love of teaching, training and coaching, as well as a team approach to completing projects makes working with My Backyard Sports a dream come true. We are looking forward to sharing this dream with others.
Everyone has a story, here is Jeff’s
Jeff grew up in Fargo, ND before getting his degree from the University of Minnesota. After graduation, he moved to Dallas, TX where he met Kaylan. Jameson and Jordan were born and the family moved to the Katy area. He spent 20 years in the mortgage industry helping people achieve the dream of homeownership. This opportunity to combine our skill sets in a business we are passionate about was too good to pass up. We look forward to building projects that allow families to create a lifetime of memories through sports.

Favorite sports experience – Watching Kirby Puckett hit game winning home run in the 11th inning of game 6 of 1991 World series “And we’ll see you tomorrow night” Close second watching Dirk have to leave the court in final seconds of NBA Finals to get his emotions in check
Why I’m In This Business
Sports have always been my favorite thing. Whether it was elementary school art projects, Halloween costumes, watching on TV, or getting to play I could think of no better way to spend my time. Like many kids I wanted to be a professional athlete when I grew up, by joining my backyard sports I have a chance to help kids follow their passion for sports. Watching and coaching our boys as they learn to play and compete has been a great thrill for me. My passion lies in teaching and coaching kids as they learn how to play and compete in athletics.
Jeff’s Passion
Passion about my love of sports and passing it on to kids. There is no better way to learn life lessons and have fun building relationships.
Kaylan Lennick, MBS Houston
Everyone has a story, here is Kaylan’s
I grew up in the Houston area and moved to Dallas out of High School. I went to college with the idea of becoming an elementary teacher. While taking some early childhood education courses, I became passionate about children’s development age birth to 5. I have spent the last 13 years as a preschool teacher and curriculum coordinator where I transitioned from teaching young children to mentoring preschool teachers. Jeff and I met on a golf course and spent the better part of our relationship golfing and watch the Texas Rangers together. We got married and now have two awesome boys. After moving back to the Houston area, our family delved into the youth baseball experience pretty heavily. Right from the start, I bought my own glove and can be found running drills at practices, playing hot box in the backyard or goofing off with the players younger siblings on the fence line. I wear my affectionate nickname of Coach K proudly.

Quote – “If you do not believe in yourself, no one will do it for you.”
My favorite team – Houston Astros and Katy Tigers!
First sports experience – Cheerleading camp every summer as a young girl. Cheering at Jr. High and High School games will forever hold a special place in my heart!
Favorite sports experience – Watching my older son pitch and my younger son hit. This is where I see the determination, confidence, defeat, hard lessons learned and memorable moments made in their faces. (I also always loved watching Elvis Andrus and Adrian Beltre interact on the ball field.)
Why I’m In This Business
Working with kids has been a passion of mine for a majority of my life. From an early age I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I also grew up playing sports and being active. I played volleyball, softball and was always in gymnastics and dance. I was a cheerleader for the great Katy Tigers. After having two boys and helping Jeff coach our son’s little league team, I developed a desire to combine my old love of working with kids and new love of youth sports. MBS is the perfect opportunity to create a career based on these passions.
Kaylan’s Passion
Keeping kids and adults active. The social skills and awareness of others that team sports can enhance.
